Taking a BA degree in Media I experienced my first exposure to editing, on a linear VHS suite. I hadn’t paid too much thought to the construction of the films I enjoyed. Now I found a magical world behind the curtain where sound, picture, and most importantly story were woven together.
After gaining a 1st Class degree I used the technical skills I had learned working as a web designer, online video specialist and freelance VJ. But I still hankered for the opportunity to explore and gain experience in a more narrative form of filmmaking.
In 2004 I was selected as one of six students to study film editing at The National Film and Television School. I graduated in 2006 after training with some of the most talented students and professionals in the industry. My NFTS films have won awards and been screened at international film festivals.
Since graduating I have cut short films, music videos, both short and long-form documentary for television, as well as working as an assistant editor in TV drama and feature films. I am organised, efficient and work well under pressure and I combine these traits with a thorough technical knowledge of film, broadcast and internet technologies to take a project through to delivery.
I particularly enjoy long-form documentary editing but have an appetite for storytelling in whatever form it takes. As an editor I focus on communication, creativity and developing good working relationships.
